Abstract
Conventional heat-cured acrylic resins (polymethyl methacrylate) are the most predominantly used denture base materials, but these materials are typically low in strength. Until now, fracture of acrylic resin dentures remains an unresolved problem in prosthodontics. To prevent clinical fractures, glass fiber has been used to reinforce acrylic resin dentures. Glass fiber frameworks are easy to handle and chemically bond to all methacrylate resins, and the presence of glass fiber reinforcement improves fracture resistance and flexibility of complete dentures.
